吕院士一直高度关心学院的建设，关心全院师生的进步，他表示自己收藏的珍贵图书不送给个人，而是要送给图书室供全院师生研习。所赠的每一本书刊都是经过吕院士亲手挑选的，它们或者是具有宏观前瞻性的研究报告，或者是紧追学科前沿的专业著述，其中还不乏颇具学术和收藏价值的书籍图册。这从又一个侧面反映出吕院士的慷慨无私和他对学院深厚感情。我们对吕院士这种共享知识、嘉惠后学的精神表示由衷地敬佩和感谢。
